group exhibition of artists exploring the aesthetics of magical realism
On 31st August the City Gallery in Wrocław will fill with over 50 artworks by 37 Polish and foreign artists exploring the aesthetics of magical realism. The display, organised in cooperation with Bator Art Gallery, is the fourth in the “MAGICAL DREAMS” exhibition cycle dedicated to the best contemporary art of this genre.
This style requires artists to have remarkable skills as well as fantasy, creativity and panache. It is a particularly difficult artistic path to choose, as it debunks all imperfection, is intolerant to banality, clichés and above all mediocrity. The best artists represent the world’ top class and we provide them with an opportunity to exhibit in Europe – says Katarzyna Bator, co-founder of Bator Art Gallery and one of initiators of “MAGICAL DREAMS” cyclical exhibition.
The City Gallery in Wrocław and Bator Art Gallery invite to a fascinating mystical journey to the land of magic, fairy tales and mysterious symbolism. In the world where aesthetic values often yield to the need of originality and fantasy loses out to desire to shock the recipient, the viewers get a chance to see painting and sculptural pieces which are both a diligent record of artistic visions extracted from the deepest corners of imagination and a testimony of an unusual artistic craft and skills honed for years.
“MAGICAL DREAMS IV” exhibition displays artworks by 37 most prominent contemporary artists representing the magical realism genre. It features artists from Poland (Karol Bąk, Mariola Jaśko, Jarosław Jaśnikowski, Marcin Kołpanowicz, Mariusz Krawczyk, Jacek Opała, Borys Michalik, Graszka Paulska, Kazimierz Pilarz, Andrzej Sajewski, Grzegorz Stec, Józef Stolorz, Adam Widełka, Krzysztof Wiśniewski, Mariusz Zdybał), from Germany (Angerer der Ältere, Kathrina S.
