Karolina Jaklewicz, Na spokój, olej na płótnie
“Lines are scars after conceptions. A visible signs of the process of thinking. We all know the modern lines of Le Corbusier which provide assurance and security, Lines of Piet Mondrian that search for harmonious structures of the world. Finally, we also know deconstructive lines of Daniel Libeskind – confusing and predacious. There are lines that are rational and intuitive. There are lines for calmness and for temptation, those that are drawn and those that are said. With words we can mark lines that are borders. With words we can open border lines. Lines segregate and build community.
Disclaim and take in. Line is in art one of the key formal means. Artists explore its features both visual and symbolic in every possible direction. In this impossible too.
There are lines that are sensitive, affectionate on smallest shifts and vibrations. Those are seismographs lines. Some people are equipped in that kind of lines. Their skin is overturned, they feel each impulse strongly. Their PH is never neutral or indifferent. They react.
There are lines that are sharply cut or perfectly smooth. Those lines have a potential to create space architecturally or constructing system of a pure form. Those lines lead to ideal worlds. Worlds that we are dreaming about. Lines of longing. Lines that we are still fighting for.
Lines appear in every latitude. They are democratic and authoritarian. They can be a crime weapon or a tool of salvation. They keep the world in check and caused conflicts. They have two ends or two beginnings. Lets be optimistic. Lets not make a closed circle out of lines. Yes, the abstract art is engaged”. – Karolina Jaklewicz
The organizers of the exhibition are The City Gallery in Wrocław and SOCATO Gallery.
