Biennale of the Young European Art (Jeune Création Européenne) is a unique exhibition promoting current art trends in the practice of the youngest artists. The display will be held in Wroclaw between June and July 2016 and will offer Polish viewers a unique opportunity to see works of 56 artists from Spain, Italy, Portugal, France, Denmark, Latvia and Poland.

Biennale of the Young European Art is an international artistic project, presenting newest tendencies of European art. It is a traveling exhibition that since 2000 has been shown all around Europe. Its foundation and the leading idea is the art exchange between European countries. The exhibition focuses on the presentation of trends distinctive for artists aged to 35 years. All of them are young artists, graduates of artistic schools, some of them are already visible on the art market, others are more independent not necessarily related with private institutions. The Biennale which is made out of they mutual cooperation happened to be a kind of a platform for the art exchange and also for the expression of different ways of perceiving art in various countries.
The Biennale of the Young European Art in Wrocław start 30th of June 2016 and is a part of the European Capital of Culture Wrocław 2016. The exhibition has been organized by the City Gallery in Wrocław and will be shown at the Wrocław Congress Centre right next to the historic building of the Centennial Hall. The dance and fire performance of Pa-Li-Tchi Theatre will be a part of the opening ceremony. The audience will have an opportunity to see a spectacle that combines dance movement, music and pyrotechnical show.
Hosting international, prestigious event, like Biennale, is not just an important event for Wroclaw, but for Poland in general. It creates an opportunity to promote a native culture and present work of Polish artists in the international context. At the same time the local and foreign audience will have the possibility to see the exceptional European art in one place. Exhibition will have an open space character – that’s why we want to invite everyone to join us in this special event– says Ewa Sułek, the curator of Polish Biennale section.
The Polish edition of the Biennale will include works of Magdalena Sawicka – a Polish artist awarded by an international Grand Prix Jury during the opening of the art show in French Montrouge. They valued her works for originality and strengthens through which they become a reflection about an everyday life practice.
The newest edition of the Biennale started in Fall 2015 with the opening at the art’s center Beffroi in Parisian Montrouge. Later on the exhibition traveled to Denmark (Hjørring, Kunstbygningeni Vrå) and now is the time to see it in Poland. The next stop will be in Latvia (August 2015) and throughout 2017 also in Italy, Spain and Portugal.
Art works that are presented on the show are made in various mediums and techniques like: painting, drawing, photography, installation forms and videos. Poland will be represented by Magdalena Sawicka, Miłosz Flis, Michał Frydrych, Marcelina Groń, Kornel Janczy, Berenika Kowalska, Izabela Łęska and Tomasz Poznysz.
