From 19th October till 25th November 2017 at the City Gallery in Wroc\u0142aw a solo exhibition of a Macedonian artist Aleksandar Stankovski will be held. The \u201cCake Shop Europa\u201d exhibition plays a role of a sarcastic redefinition of contemporaneity with an attempt to expose a true intentions of people in power.<\/strong>

Permanent dichotomy and interweaving between figurative and abstract painting is present in the work of Aleksandar Stankovski and, from the artistic standpoint, stylistic systematization by an art historian is not possible, but only the perception of the idea base, which also opens the discussion about the possible concept design with ideological and political dimensions in the uncertainty in relation to the classicistic representation in the art of right-wing political views and the modernist understanding of left-wing political orientation about the presentation of art…
The boldness that Aleksandar Stankovski shows us with his painting is a result of the need to visualize knowledge\/episteme, his constant will, direction and intention of acquiring and interpreting the knowledge in the specific context of art. The concept of the exhibition has an epistemological character, a kind of theorization of knowledge about art and the ways in which the knowledge \u201cabout\u201d and \u201cin\u201d art is applied in actual material conditions and circumstances, i.e. analysis and allegorical representation of the theory of art as an inexhaustible artistic theme.

The modern world makes progress with technological development and, above all, with communication networks that have reached their peak today with the media and the information society and that are necessary for the development of both the society and the individual as an integral part of that system. Globalization and consciousness-changing machinery through media information and advertising create a new order in which the individual is quietly alienated and loses his or her identity. In fact, the current state of industralization and technologicalization of modern society and the establishment of modern institutional networks is a moment of sociological decay, i.e. disintegration, eliminating all previous and subsequent links that lead to disruption of the whole…

Aleksandar Stankovski, as a witness to current events and situations, is building his aesthetic strategy of demystification of these social phenomenon. He comments on the recent social, political and cultural turmoil at both local and global levels. In the context of his interest in creating a synthesis of historical artistic directions and in responding to socio-political ideologies from the distant and recent past, ironically and interrogatively, and occasionally sarcastically he reacts by transposing and redefining the current state, thus exposing the system in which dominate the organizations of the leading world powers that under the veil of \u201cimproving the environment\u201d restructure the global order, all for the sole purpose of preserving their own interest.

When defining the artistic language that Stankovski uses in the realization of his works, it can be said that he is a visual nomad, combining several painting techniques and media (painting, drawing, graphics, collage, photography, poster, comic book, installation, performance, video, film…), so that each element is in function of fluidity in the creation of the work. In depicting the visual presentations or narratives which apart from the narrative plot, also contain plastically purified sentences of the reality, structured in surreal sequences, they speak of the mental line of embodying the continuity and reality…

Aleksandar Stankovski in his works shows us all the absurdity of this world, but also the necessity of man to consume the absurd in the struggle for endurance and survival…

The organizers of the exhibition are The City Gallery in Wroc\u0142aw and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia.
