The City Gallery in Wroc\u0142aw repeatedly executed exhibitions featured pair of artists that could be treated as two individual events. This strategy allowed artists for showing their art in an individual space and consequently to make it fully hearable as it wasn\u2019t disrupted by some \u201cextraneous\u201d elements. On the other hand though there have always been a mutual confrontation, comparison, inspiration between displayed artworks. The same tendency is clearly visible in the new exhibition titled simply \u201cV\u00edt Ondr\u00e1\u010dek \/ Marcin Zawicki\u201d which juxtaposed two artists differ in terms of age, origin, artistic statement and attitude towards themselves and world in general. What makes them similar is in turn a paintbrush and painting understood here as a medium that help them introduced a viewer to their own artistic worlds.

V\u00edt Ondr\u00e1\u010dek (born in 1959) \u2013 devoted himself mostly to painting, print, drawing and illustration. He is a stubborn individualist not necessarily caring about new tendencies and art market requests. He cooperates and is closly related with lots of poets and prosaists, such as: Vit Sliva, Radek Maly, Jaromir Typlt and the late Ludvik Kundera – an excellent Chech surrealist from Ra Group. He believes that brushstrokes express his energy the most, hence he devoted himself to art immensely almost on death. While creating the series of Dactylograms Ondr\u00e1\u010dek used only his own hands and fingers what caused a serious poisoning which he barely survived. Despite this all he still uses a traditional paints. The display will be an occasion to show one of his most poetic, and seemingly lacked of colour cycle \u201cThe Black Rainbow\u201d. It is however only an impression since Ondr\u00e1\u010dek obtaines the color indirectly by combination of originally colourless structures he achieves the effect of a color intensity, like it would be a play of light and shadow in a black and white movie. It is somehow an illusion of color. What he offers in his paintings is the energy, rhythm and its lack, regularity and deflection \u2013 all of which create a scheme of a movement.

Marcin Zawicki (born 1985) \u2013 is a young, but not in any case, debuting artist. There are lots of exhibitions, important awards and interesting artworks characterised by the self-distance in his resume. He usually works in painting and print medium. The exhibition will present a small section of Zawicki ouevre including paintings from his two, expanded series: \u201cThe Fall\u201d [Upadek] and \u201cErgot\u201d [Sporysz] and also from the newest, still untitled project. From the very beginning Zawicki doesn\u2019t give titles to his works, nonetheless all paintings are finished, carefully considered and clear.
An artificial light, aggressive, contrasting colors, gloomy atmosphere of unreality and timelessness along with the method of working are the most characteristic features of all Zawicki\u2019s paintings.
The artist usually make some samples of the final composition using small models. They are created out of refuses that he reincarnates. First he juxtaposes elements taken out from their natural environment, makes photographs of created effects, and eventually transfers them on canvas. At this stage of the creative process the artist let the imagination run wild \u2013 he plays with the scale, adds some new elements, dismembers others, blends, adds colors, creates his own microcosmos in a micro and macro scale. And there\u2019s no room for an accidental solutions since the artist works very carefully, paying an exceptional attention to details.

It is hard to indifferently pass by the art of both artists. They are pull viewers in and forced him or her to follow Ondr\u00e1\u010dek\u2019s poetic and dynamic line or Zawicki\u2019s fantastic plants and awaken monsters. Both spaces in the gallery are separated with stairs and floor making a symbolic border between monochromatic and colors, poetry and mockery, complete seriousness and distance. It is not however a barrier that can not be overcome.

Galeria Miejska we Wroc\u0142awiu ju\u017c niejednokrotnie organizowa\u0142a wystawy par artyst\u00f3w,kt\u00f3re r\u00f3wnie dobrze mo\u017cna by\u0142o traktowa\u0107 jako dwa osobne wydarzenia. Dzi\u0119ki takiemu posuni\u0119ciu tw\u00f3rcy otrzymywali sale na wy\u0142\u0105czno\u015b\u0107 i zarazem szans\u0119, aby ich sztuka wybrzmia\u0142a niezak\u0142\u00f3cona obecno\u015bci\u0105 \u201eobcych\u201d element\u00f3w. Z drugiej jednak strony zawsze dochodzi\u0142o do wzajemnej konfrontacji, rodz\u0105cej por\u00f3wnania, oceny, nowe inspiracje. W podobn\u0105 tendencj\u0119 wpisuje si\u0119 wystawa \u201eV\u00edt Ondr\u00e1\u010dek \/ Marcin Zawicki \/ malarstwo\u201d zestawiaj\u0105ca prace artyst\u00f3w, kt\u00f3rych r\u00f3\u017cni niemal wszystko: wiek, kraj pochodzenia, postawa artystyczna, stosunek do siebie i otaczaj\u0105cego \u015bwiata. \u0141\u0105czy za\u015b p\u0119dzel oraz malarstwo rozumiane jako medium, za pomoc\u0105 kt\u00f3rego staraj\u0105 si\u0119, bardzo powa\u017cnie lub troch\u0119 mniej serio, wprowadzi\u0107 widza do swoich artystycznych \u015bwiat\u00f3w.<\/strong>

To uparty indywidualista oboj\u0119tny na mody, zmieniaj\u0105ce si\u0119 tendencje i zapotrzebowanie rynku. Blisko przyja\u017ani si\u0119 i wsp\u00f3\u0142pracuje z wieloma poetami i prozaikami\u2013 V\u00edtem Sl\u00edv\u0105, Radkiem Malym, Jarom\u00edrem Typltem oraz ze zmar\u0142ym ju\u017c znakomitym czeskim surrealist\u0105 Ludv\u00edkiem Kunder\u0105 (Grupa Ra). Mimo to w dalszym ci\u0105gu si\u0119ga po farby. W Galerii Miejskiej we Wroc\u0142awiu zostan\u0105 zaprezentowane prace z jego bardzo poetyckiego i pozornie pozbawionego kolor\u00f3w cyklu \u201eCzarna T\u0119cza\u201d. Pozornie, gdy\u017c V\u00edt Ondr\u00e1\u010dek uzyskuje kolory niebezpo\u015brednio \u2013 dzi\u0119ki kombinacji struktur pierwotnie bezbarwnych sprawia prawdziwe wra\u017cenie koloru, niczym gra \u015bwiat\u0142ocienia w czarno-bia\u0142ym filmie. Wra\u017cenie koloru w znaczeniu iluzji. Na jego obrazach ukazuje energi\u0119, rytm, jego brak, regularno\u015b\u0107 i odchylenia \u2013wszystko, co sk\u0142ada si\u0119 na schemat ruchu.

Wszystkie trzy cykle \u0142\u0105czy, opr\u00f3cz techniki malowania, zastosowania sztucznego \u015bwiat\u0142a, jaskrawej kontrastowej kolorystyki,ponurego raczej nastroju odrealnienia i bezczasowo\u015bci, tak\u017ce obrana metoda ich tworzenia. Zawicki koncypuje swoje kompozycje \u201ena sucho\u201d, przy u\u017cyciu niewielkich modeli. Powstaj\u0105 one z przer\u00f3\u017cnych odpad\u00f3w, kt\u00f3rym artysta nadaje drugie \u017cycie.Zestawia elementy wyodr\u0119bnione z ich pierwotnych \u015brodowisk, nast\u0119pnie fotografuje efekty swojej pracy i przenosi je, wcale dos\u0142ownie, na p\u0142\u00f3tno. Na tym etapie malarz ponownie puszcza wodze fantazji \u2013 bawi si\u0119 skal\u0105, dodaje nowe elementy, rozcz\u0142onkowuje, scala, ubarwia, tworz\u0105c nowy mikrokosmos w skali mikro i makro. Robi to bardzo uwa\u017cnie, przywi\u0105zuje wag\u0119 do szczeg\u00f3\u0142\u00f3w, st\u0105d niema tu miejsca na przypadek.

Wci\u0105gaj\u0105 one widza,zmuszaj\u0105c do prze\u015bledzenia, b\u0105d\u017a to poetycko dynamicznej linii Ondr\u00e1\u010dka,lub te\u017c budz\u0105cych si\u0119 do \u017cycia stwor\u00f3w i\u00a0fantastycznych ro\u015blin Zawickiego.Przestrzenie zajmowane przez artyst\u00f3w w\u00a0Galerii Miejskiej oddzielaj\u0105 schody i\u00a0pod\u0142oga stanowi\u0105ce granic\u0119 mi\u0119dzy monochromi\u0105 i\u00a0kolorami, poezj\u0105 i\u00a0kpin\u0105,ca\u0142kowit\u0105 powag\u0105 i\u00a0lekkim dystansem. Nie jest to jednak bariera nie do pokonania.
