In the newest series of his work presented in the Galeria Miejska Krzysztof Skarbek manage the issues of the „Alien”, which in art, during the last few decades, reached the status of the topos. Artist, rising once again to classic postmodernism question, looks up at the Alien not only as a sociologist but also as cultural archeologist uncovering once again the potential of pop culture’s icons and myths. For his art there is a symbolic meaning for atmosphere and legend of 60’s, that is why also this time his paintings are full of peoples and figures characteristic for this period. Of course, in his own way Skarbek is making those compositions by contrasting easy to identify characters with the figures of animals, machines, monsters or things taken from his imagination. His newest paintings may be added to his own style, maintained from the 80’s – New Expression which is the synthesis of realism, neo fauvism, expressionism, pop art and – as some critics say – surrealism and fantastic. In Skarbek’s art You must be aware of his juggling with sociology, history and modern culture.
“Diversity of used mediums of expression in painting techniques: acrylic painting, oil pastels, acrylic markers, transparent gels, rich materials; factures and shining, glittery structures is made to bring out […] fabulous, fantastic reality. The optimistic content of my art with those mediums of expressions is going to show the positive state of emotions. The most important thing for me is to show revolt over the hypocrisy, change the stereotypes, a promethean fight for worth, humor and love “ explains the painter is his artistic manifesto.
